I was a member of the gym for several months and went 2-3 times a week and thought I was working hard but was not losing the weight I wanted. Lorena helped me to motivate myself to achieve my weight loss. She set out training programs to help achieve my goals and helped me push myself to get the full benefits of both gym sessions and classes. Lorena combined this with nutrition information which was easy to follow and easy to stick to. I have now lost nearly 3 stone. I am sure I would not have been able to achieve this without the dedication, knowledge and enthusiasm from Lorena. Lorena has helped change my lifestyle and outlook on life.

I joined Cookridge Hall Gym 12 months ago with Oliver Buckby as my personal trainer. My initial goal was to prepare for a 4 day 400 mile road bike ride that was in 12 weeks.

I was in good shape for the cycle ride and was able to complete the whole distance. Which I feel would have been less enjoyable, and much harder, had I not followed Oliver’s training programme.

I also had some real issues with range of movement in my right shoulder joint, after a dislocation in a sports accident several years previously. This injury caused not only restricted movement, but sharp pain while sleeping, and reaching in certain positions.

Oliver put together an individual intensive programme of manipulation and stretching for my shoulder. This had an almost immediate effect on improving the range of movement and deduction in pain, after 4 sessions spread over 4 weeks my shoulder was so much better that I was able to regain a range of movement that I had not had since before my accident. This is now managed by a 20 minute session every 3 weeks.

After 6 months of being a member at Cookridge Hall Gym, I set another goal of loosing 1 stone in weight, and improving core and leg strength within 3 months. This was to improve my all round fitness and endurance for cycling, After assessing my diet, we put together a revised meal plan. My weight loss goal was achieved and my performance and recovery rates improved drastically.

It is now a year since Oliver started as my trainer at Cookridge Hall. I have now lost 1 ½ stone in weight and my power and stamina has increased to a level where I have started joined British Cycling and started to race.

With a whole new set of goals Oliver will continue to be my trainer for some time to come yet. I doubt that any of this would have been achievable without Oliver’s guidance

Due to a hip replacement operation recently, I have been having treatment with Louise. As my rehabilitation progressed, I started to have training sessions with Tom in the gym in order to continue strengthening my hip and to get fitter. Tom liaised with Louise and drew up an excellent programme. He is great to train with, such fun, always encouraging but at the same time, ‘pushing’ me when required. Being in the gym is not my favourite activity, but Tom has managed to keep me motivated

I have been training with Jacinta for over a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed training with her on a weekly basis. It has enabled me to make positive changes for myself in terms of nutrition; general fitness and body composition and I have seen significant results in all of these areas. Jacinta is very knowledgeable and has given me a lot of information and advice in relation to training and nutrition, which has helped me achieve my goals.

Jacinta is committed to her clients and works really hard. She puts a lot of effort in to researching and planning programmes; trying out different exercises and approaches to training; ensuring that there is plenty of variation and that my training needs are met.

She is always positive and enthusiastic, which helps to make training more enjoyable (this does not mean easy!). She is around the gym a lot; training; teaching; or on shift; which means she is usually around if I have a question or to offer some encouragement.

I would happily recommend Jacinta to others as she is a great personal trainer. I know that she really cares about her clients and training with her has had a massive positive impact on me in so many ways

CHARLOTTE NEWBOULD Approach to Exercise

I believe people shouldn’t spend hour after hour in the gym, exercise should be short, sharp and snappy with maximum effort levels. Your goal should not be about weight loss, but about fat loss. I have been coaching since 2011 and from my experience, I would recommend high intensity training, where fat is burnt and fitness levels increase. This type of training will challenge you mentally and physically, but the results will show through quickly. Since starting coaching, I have learnt a lot about working with different body types and different people and I have discovered that some client’s will easily give up on themselves, whereas I will never give up on a client. I believe positive mental attitude, the correct language patterns, a change in lifestyle and new training plan will increase your fitness, happiness, confidence and lifestyle.

“Before I started training with Charlotte I was stuck in bad habits. Too much beer, too many takeaways and too much time on the sofa was leadin g to a severe case of middle-aged spread! Working with Charlotte is great as she understands my needs and pitches the exercise accordingly. For me it was to initially lose weight and within three months I lost over a stone and a half. Now I am in the process of toning and adding muscle. Aside from the gym work I also get good advice on diet and nutrition. In short, Charlotte understands the needs of her clients and tailors her sessions accordingly. You will be pushed and the work will be hard, but the benefits are well worth it!”

Hannah Amos

Hannah Amos Approach to Exercise

I believe exercise should be enjoyable, but still challenging so that clients stay focused and look forward to training, rather than it becoming a chore. Motivation is a high priority of mine, making sure clients stay determined to reach their goals, therefore any goals set with clients will be regularly and closely measured.

In my own training experiences, I believe high intensity workouts for a shorter length of time are more effective and results are seen faster, in contrast to spending hours in the gym doing multiple exercises set after set.

I believe getting your nutrition correct, along with your training is key to seeing the results you are looking for!
