Tom's England Call Up
Tom Gets England Call-Up
Tom Broxup has been selected to play golf for England Schools against Scotland Schools in September.
This follows his most recent success in coming tied 6th in the English National Schools Championships, out of a field of 53 players, at Hollinwell in Nottinghamshire, shooting 74 and 75. Tom, representing Ralph Thoresby High School in Leeds, got over a terrible start in qualify at Howley Hall being six over par after three holes before qualifying with a 74. At the regional finals in Denton Manchester 74 and 76 got him through to the National final.
16 year old Tom is a member of Cookridge Hall Golf Club where he has had a great start to the season reducing his handicap from 2 to scratch and heading towards +1. He has also represented the Cookridge Hall Scratch team and Yorkshire Junior team with distinction.
Ray Agar, junior organiser at Cookridge Hall was full of praise for Tom’s success, “Tom has been tremendously dedicated to improving his golf and the hard work he has put in over the winter and early season has paid off. He fully deserves his National call-up. We are all delighted for him”.
